Terms & Community Guidelines
Be good to each other
The short version
AlmaBond is a private space for your university community. Be honest about who you are, treat people with respect, don't spam or share things that aren't yours, and report anything that doesn't feel right.
Who can use AlmaBond
AlmaBond is for the current students and staff of the universities that use it (St. Joseph's New York is the first), and for alumni whose graduation has been verified by their university's alumni engagement office. You must use your own account and give accurate information. Don't share your login or use someone else's.
How to behave
- Be respectful. No harassment, bullying, hate speech, threats, or sexual content.
- Be honest. Don't pretend to be someone else or misstate your role, employer, or graduation.
- No spam or scams. No unsolicited promotions, pyramid schemes, or attempts to collect money or personal information.
- Respect privacy. Don't share other people's private information, or screenshots of private messages, without their permission.
- Keep it legal. Don't post anything illegal or that infringes someone's rights, and only upload files you have the right to share.
- Don't abuse the platform. No scraping, automated access, or attempts to bypass limits or security.
Mentorship and messages
Mentorship connects students with alumni who have chosen to help. Messages are private between the two people in a conversation. Mentors share their own experience and opinions; nothing on AlmaBond is professional, legal, financial, or medical advice, and AlmaBond doesn't guarantee jobs, introductions, or outcomes. Either person can block the other at any time, which ends the conversation until the person who blocked chooses to unblock it. Never send money or share passwords or sensitive personal documents.
What you post
You own what you post. By posting on AlmaBond you let the university and the platform display it to other signed-in members for as long as it's up, and to store and compress it so the site works. You can delete your own posts any time. Content is visible only to signed-in members of your community.
Reports and moderation
Anyone can report a post or message. For posts, the alumni engagement office reviews reports and can hide the post. For messages, the office can read only the message that was reported. Accounts that break these guidelines can be suspended or removed. Serious matters may be passed to the university.
Your account
You can edit your profile, download your information, or delete your account from your profile page. Deleting your account removes your personal details, posts, and private messages. See the privacy policy for how information is handled.
Availability and changes
AlmaBond is provided as is, and may change, be interrupted, or have errors. We may update these terms; the date above will change, and continuing to use AlmaBond means you accept the update.
